What is Semax?
Start with the name. Then separate what the substance is from what a treatment claim says it can do.
A short chain made in a lab
Semax is made in a lab from seven linked building blocks called amino acids, the small pieces that also make up proteins.
Semax copies a small part of ACTH, a hormone that helps the body respond to stress. A hormone is a chemical messenger made by the body.
Peptide means a chain of linked building blocks. The name alone does not show that a product has been tested or approved for use.
Why nose drops come up
The FDA's review describes Semax as a registered Russian medicine in nasal-drop form; that record was checked on September 30, 2026.
That is the source of its history as a medicine. It does not make a product offered elsewhere the same product.
The human research reviewed by FDA used the nasal route, meaning through the nose; FDA found no human safety data for injection.
Real is only the first question
The next question is whether studies show that Semax helps with your particular problem. Semax can be studied without that question being answered.
